Applications are invited for the following position: PROJECT DOCTOR, KENYA AIDS VACCINE INITIATIVE – INSTITUTE OF CLINICAL RESEARCH (KAVI-ICR) - AD/1/1/21 (1 POST) (CHS)


The position
The purpose of the position is to assist the Principal Investigator and other study physicians in coordinating research activities at KAVI - ICR. It is a full-time position based in Nairobi and whose tenure is one (1) year contract renewable based on performance and by mutual consent. The salary is negotiable depending on the level of education and work experience.


Job description
Clinical Responsibilities:
 Ensure that clients/volunteers understand the objectives of the research.
 Perform protocol-specific activities.
 Perform medical examinations and provide appropriate treatment where necessary.
 Receive and review laboratory results.
 Compile weekly, quarterly and annual reports.


Other responsibilities:
 Organize daily activities and functions of the clinic.
 Ensure regular communication and correspondence with the Principle Investigator and co-investigator regarding clinical and administrative issues.
 Coordinate the development of clinic SOPs and ensure staff compliance with SOPs.
 Participate in information seminars.


Qualifications
The hold of this position must have a basic degree in Medicine (MBChB or MD) from a recognized University. He/she must be registered with Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB).

Experience
Applicants should have at least two (2) years of experience as a doctor.
Added advantage
Applicants with good clinical practice certificate (GCP) or those who have worked in a research institution will have an advantage.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
 A team player capable of building staff capacity through mentorship.
 Ability to provide effective leadership in the management of the clinic activities.
 A team leader with the ability to work under minimum supervision
 Good communication skills, both verbal and written
